Taxis from the airports to Evanston

Taxis at the airports may not be familiar with the Chicago suburbs. We suggest a pre-arranged ride if possible to ensure a smooth transit. Fares start at approximately $35 from O’Hare and $50 from Midway. For up-to-date fare information, please contact a taxi service directly. Two suburban taxi options are below:

Taxi rides typically take an hour, but can often be longer. Please plan accordingly.

Parking

Upon arriving, we recommend parking at the North Campus Parking Garage (2311 North Campus Drive), which is close to our location in the Technological Institute. The Evanston campus also has several surface parking lots that require a valid parking pass and the City of Evanston allows some street parking near campus with a 2-hour restriction. Both the Northwestern surface lots and Evanston street parking requirements are strictly enforced.

Public Transportation

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) maintains an extensive system of elevated trains (also known as “the L”) and buses throughout Chicago and Evanston. The train stop closest to the Technological Institute is the Purple Line-Noyes. The 201 bus departs from the Howard St. terminal and stops on the corner of Tech Dr. and Sheridan.

Be advised, while inexpensive, taking the CTA from the airport can take up to 90 minutes and requires transferring trains.

Intercampus shuttle

For Northwestern faculty, staff or students the shuttle that runs between the Evanston and Chicago campuses is a convenient option. A valid Wildcard is required. There is a shuttle stop for the Tech Institute.
